See the pyramids along the Nile - Or in Vegas!

"See the pyramids along the Nile. Watch a sunrise from a tropic isle."

From "You Belong to Me" (Click here for complete lyrics)
Sung by Jo Stafford - Written by Chilton Price

If you really want to travel and see the world, but don't have a lot of time...Just travel to Las Vegas! You can stand on the Vegas Strip and, without binoculars or a Time Machine, see:

A trip to Las Vegas is like a trip to Venice (The Venetian), New York City (NewYork-NewYork), Ancient Rome (Caesar's Palace), Persia (Aladdin), or Paris (Paris Las Vegas) - with its own Eiffel Tower (or "le Tour Eiffel" as I learned in French class).

You can be a Pirate (Treasure Island) or a Ringmaster (Circus Circus) ... Themed hotels are de rigeur in Las Vegas (or "customary" as my English teacher told me).

There are numerous "Vegas Packages" out there, and, after a LOT of research and comparisons, I found that Travelocity (Top Hotel Deals in Las Vegas) had the best prices and service. I booked my last trip through them - we stayed at The Excalibur - and couldn't have been happier!

Viva Las Vegas - Lady Luck

"Lady luck please let the dice stay hot. Let me shoot a seven with ev'ry shot. Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Vegas, Viva, Viva Las Vegas"

From "Viva Las Vegas" (Click here for complete lyrics)
Words and Music by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman
Performed by Elvis Presley

Las Vegas is the place to play!

When I'm in Vegas, I play Slot Machines! Unfortunately, I'm arithmetically-challenged - can't add to 21 fast enough in my head to attempt Blackjack at a Table (I do play electronic BJ) - I can feel the synapses in my brain jumping over the places where math ought to be.

I can SPELL most anything, though. - In fact, I was 6th Grade Spelling Champ in grade school - in Brooklyn :-) But, Table BJ is a no-no for me.

Anyhow, Slot Machines are what I like - In fact, my last trip to Vegas was financed by a Slot Machine Jackpot at a Casino in Wisconsin!

I do play a lot of web games... when I'm not writing my blogs. I've found a site where you can play for FREE or play Hundreds of Popular Games at 50%. Visit iWin.com and Play Now! It's a great place to play word, puzzle and action games!

Another one I've just discovered has Chat Rooms with some great, friendly people! You ought to try it out. This one even gives you a chance to win some great prizes while you Chat... To me, that's a WIN !

Interesting Info:
FORBES announced today (10/30/07) that Elvis is still King (of the dead?). Elvis Presley is the highest paid DECEASED celebrity: $49 MILLION! His heirs should give thanks to "Viva Las Vegas" and "a whole lotta shakin'"!

Others on the list were:
# 2. John Lennon - $44 Million
# 3. Charles Schulz - $35 Million
# 4. George Harrison - $22 Million
# 5. Albert Einstein - $18 Million
# 6. Andy Warhol - $15 Million
# 7. Theodor (Dr. Seuss) Geisel - $13 Million
# 8. Tupac Shaku - $9 Million
# 9. Marilyn Monroe - $7 Million
# 10. Steve McQueen - $6 Million

The last time I was in Vegas (about 2 years ago), I had occasion to meet a gentleman who bore a very strong resemblance to the late, great Mr. Presley. Please don't laugh (ROFLMAO). I'm the one on the right. My friend, on the left, flew from Little Rock, AR to join me on this trip. By the way, I tell people, "My feet reach the ground when I'm standing up!"

Note: I am 5' Tall [Short]. What do you estimate HIS height to be?

We met "The King" on Fremont Street. Talk about LIGHTS! This is something you have to see!

Fremont Street is in the Old section of Vegas where there are shops, shows, restaurants and casinos (a lot smaller than casinos on the "New" Strip, but just as much fun and easy to navigate). You may have heard of the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino. Well, it's still open and going strong at 129 Fremont (and they really do have a really BIG gold nugget on display). The Street has been closed to traffic and is canopied. The canopy doesn't look like much until..........the lights go on!

My little digital camera didn't do justice to this light show. You have to realize that these displays are not stationary. They move! and rotate! and change! ... and the MUSIC!

...And this was Two Years Ago! The display is being improved and enhanced all the time! It's called The Fremont Experience. And it is!
